See you there x

My birthday weekend is about to begin!

June 26, 2009

I’m just uploading a final client gallery to my site, then it’s tools well and truly down for the festivities.

We’re heading to Wembley Stadium en famille tonight to see ACDC, then first thing tomorrow we are going to pick up our new kitten. I am ridiculously girly and excited. I shall have to drag myself away tomorrow afternoon though as Darcey and I are doing the mother and daughter belly dancing class in the Dance East Tent as part of the Ip Art festival!

Sunday is my actual birthday (and it’s one of the big ones!) so no doubt there will be much eating, drinking and merriment.

Work-wise, welcome along to my new clients – I’m really looking forward to working with you!

Oh yes – I have some great new ideas for baby photography and I’m looking for models. Please get in touch if you have a young baby and would like some photos!

A rocking weekend!

June 12, 2009

Tomorrow I am pleased to be photographing Paul and Rebekah’s wedding in Ipswich and Lavenham. They have some great ideas for their photography and the weather is set fair.

From there I will be heading northward to see my lovely Dad and thence to the Download Festival on Sunday. There are so many great bands, I’m just hoping there aren’t any clashes. I am particularly looking forward to seeing Buckcherry, Blackstone Cherry, of course ZZ Top and Whitesnake, and actually…..Journey after I saw this on TV last night. Imagine being able to open your mouth and know that would happen!

I’m taking my camera and hoping to schmooz someone into giving me a pass!

Claire and Laurence’s wedding

June 10, 2009

This wedding took place on a lovely summer’s day. I have so many I photos I wanted to post, but I’ve had to limit it!

The ceremony was held at Bramford Church near Ipswich.

The reception was held on board ‘Hydrogen’ which sailed out of Ipswich Marina, down the River Orwell to  the Shotley Peninsula and back.

The evening reception was held at Manor Farm, Henley, and along with a live band, the guests were treated to the largest chocolate fountain I’ve seen, a popcorn cart and fireworks.

Although it was a long, and sometimes hectic day, I thoroughly enjoyed it (and that’s the main thing isn’t it? ;-p)

RIP Ollie

June 1, 2009

It’s been a sad time for us as we recently lost our lovely cat, Ollie.

A little over two years ago he was diagnosed with feline mammary adenocarcinoma  – basically breast cancer. The only option was to consider a bilateral mammary strip in two separate operations. After a lot of soul-searching, we decided to give him a chance and to go ahead with the ops. He coped better than we ever could have imagined, and the sight of him in his surgical collar a couple of days after surgery, leaping from the table to the window ledge, to give the neighbour’s dog a bit of what for, is one I will treasure! He recovered completely, with no further treatment necessary.

About a month ago though, I noticed that he was becoming a little bit barrel-shaped around the middle. I took him to the vet who immediately realised it was a fluid build up. An ultrasound confirmed his fears that it was due to a damaged liver – possibly metastases from the original cancer, and that there was nothing more which could be done for him. He has dined like a king these past few weeks on warm, sloppy fish and chicken, and has spent his days basking in the early summer sun.

Last week, however, it became apparent that he was no longer enjoying life and so we made the heart-wrenching, but right decision to help him on his way.

The morning before the vet came we all spent quiet time with Ollie and I took a few photos.

I would like to thank the staff at the Orwell Veterinary Group for their care over the past two years, and in particular to Joe Williams for his knowledge, his surgical skills and his sensitivity.

I did a lovely shoot for a family in the Orwell Country Park yesterday

There are bluebells everywhere – it’s gorgeous! If you’d like a lifestyle shoot there whilst they are still out, give me a call as soon as possible!

Sarah and Gareth’s wedding

May 5, 2009

Here is a sneaky peak at some of the images of Sarah and Gareth’s wedding which took place at Ipswich Registry Office on April 24th.

Whilst I am happy to photograph groups, I really like to just record the day as it unfolds and to capture expressions and moments.

I just love this bridesmaid’s face!

And in this one, some comment has obviously passed between the other bridesmaid and the chauffeur!

Run to the Hills!

May 1, 2009

That’s a long way from here, Bruce!

I’ve just done my final (only) training run for the Kesgrave 5K on Sunday morning.

Supporters and bacon sandwiches along the route are most welcome!
